So we start talking, soon we're walking back to her place
She carries pepper spray on her keychain

We climb the stairs to her apartment
She offers me a beer
She says, 'It's cold in here.'
She's never wrong but she was mistaken

And it's time now that this was over
Before we start to speak
She says, 'It's cold here in the heat.'

So we thumb through her record collection here at her place
Turn up the thermostat by the furnace
She says, 'My roommate is asleep
Sit down next to me.'
We're in the dark in her apartment
She says that she don't care
You know it's cold out there
