Sealed Fate

In the land of Rus, a mighty king did rule,
Oleg, his name known through all domain,
A fearless warrior of great renown,
But even he, could not evade fate's crown.

No matter how valiantly a man might fight,
Or how cleverly he tries to avoid his plight,
Death will come, with no mercy or remorse,
To take a man's spirit and set it on its course.

The oracle said: “you’ll perish by your steed.”
The King trying to avoid death, had his horse killed.

Fate is a force, stronger than any man.
It moves through life, with a determined plan,
No matter how hard we may try to break free,
it comes for us all, like the waves of the sea.

A man that flies from his fear may find,
That he has only taken a short cut to meet it.
and even he, with all his might and will,
Could not escape the fate that would fulfill.

Oleg’s fate was sealed, it seems,
he went to sneer at fate, at the grave of his steed.
His horse’s skull hid a snake, a certainty of death,
Poison reached his heart; he took his final breath

It is what we do, with the time that we're given,
That determines our legacy in the world that we're leaving.
