Bob Welch

Biografía de Bob Welch

Born 31 July 1946, Los Angeles, California, USA. Guitarist/vocalist Welch was working in a Parisian R&B club prior to joining Fleetwood Mac in 1971. He remained a member until December 1974 when the pressures of keeping the group afloat during its most turbulent era proved too great. During his stay he was quite prolific as a songwriter and wrote among others, the excellent "Sentimental Lady" for their BARE TREES and was credited with most of the material for HEROES ARE HARD TO FIND. Welch then formed Paris with Hunt Sales and Glenn Cornick (ex-Jethro Tull), but left in 1977 to begin a solo career. Mick Fleetwood helped his former colleague secure a record deal and the resultant FRENCH KISS spawned a US Top 10 hit in a re-working of "Sentimental Lady" and two further chart entries in "Ebony Eyes" and "Hot Love Cold World." "Precious Love" from THREE HEARTS reached the US Top 20 in 1979, but Welch then proved unable to repeat such success. He subsequently moved base to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked on film soundtracks.
