Biography

The Argentinean duo LAYFE! was born as a musical project in 2004 when Lautaro Rodríguez and Federico Cavallero went from being student and guitar instructor to being friends and musical partners.

LAYFE! was named after Lautaro and Federico´s names, reinforcing the duo concept.

In the Pop/Rock genre, their musical concept is clear and original, transmitting emotions, positive feelings and daily situations in their lyrics and melodies.

Between 2004 and 2008 they played many stages throughout the country, appeared in different TV and Radio shows and participated in the Pepsi Music Festival 07.

In late 2008 they signed contract with BMV Productions and recorded their first album called LAYFE! in 2009. The album contains fourteen songs and two bonus tracks; it was recorded, arranged, produced and mixed by LAYFE! and masterized by Andres Mayo (Gardel awards “Sound Engineering” winner in 2005, 2006 and 2008; two Latin Grammy awards winner in 2008).
The photography was in charge of Gabriel Machado for Machado-Cicala-Morassut Photography.

The album´s first cut, Sabes muy bien, is the song of their first video clip (recorded in El Tigre, outside Buenos Aires). The clip was directed by Luis Galmes and Hernán Petriz.

Lautaro Rodríguez was born in August 28th, 1980 in the city of Las Flores, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he lived his childhood and teenage years. In 2000 he arrived at Buenos Aires to study Law at the University of Buenos Aires. He graduated with a Law Degree in December, 2004.
His passion for music was lifelong. Motivated by this deep inclination he enrolled with well known teachers Norberto Mazza and Ana Carfi to learn technique and acquire knowledge in music and singing. Surprised by his particular voice quality he was invited to participate in a casting call by the famous Argentinean singer Valeria Lynch, who was looking for a singer for her band´s backing vocals. The singer chose him from hundreds of participants. In 2003 he became part of her permanent staff, which gave him the opportunity to sing in The Opera Theater, the Gran Rex and the Coliseum of the city of Buenos Aires, among other venues in Argentina. At the same time Lautaro continued studying Musical Comedy. He won scholarships at the 2nd International Meeting of Musical Comedies and Opera Rock in 2003.
Since 2002, he performed covers in private events and important Bingos and Casinos of Argentina. In 2004, while doing personal performances, he started mixing his own songs among the covers.
In 2008 he participated as a songwriter and singer in the soundtrack of the movie "Los Superagentes, nueva generación" (Argentina Sonofilm), invited by Claudio Waisgluss, a recognized Argentinean musician.

Federcio Héctor Cavallero: Born in February 9 of 1979, he grew up in a family professionally dedicated to music, who passed on their passion for Art.

At age twelve he decided to take guitar lessons, his first teachers were great guitarists, such as Ricardo Lew (superb jazz musician) and Roberto Davila. At seventeen he entered to SADEM (Argentinean Union of Musicians), refining his guitar skills with Pablo Bobrowicky. When he turned nineteen he decided to be a professional musician and entered the Argentinean Berklee School of music, where he studied with Sergio Alvarez, Jorge Minisale and Daniel Johanssen, amongst others, graduating in 2003.

He was part of different rock bands while he studied music, bands in which he played lead guitar. Federico studied singing with Prof. Norberto Mazza, and became lead singer in his rock band “CAMINANTE”, created in 2001.

Between 2003 and 2008 he taught guitar.

Since 2007, Federico records, mixes, arranges and produces different bands in his recording studio, called “EMOTION”. In 2008 he participated on the album “Joel y Brian”, recording guitars.
