"My strange addiction" fue llamada así por la serie documental de la TLC My Strange Addiction.
Eilish filtró inicialmente la canción que no había sido estrenada en una historia de Instagram publicada en 2018.
El trabajo artístico de la portada de Spotify de la canción fue hecho por @tomatosita en Instagram.
La canción muestra fragmentos vocales de la Temporada 7 Episodio 17 de la comedia situacional americana, The Office.
Pero la teoría fue desacreditada después de que Eilish confirmara a PopBuzz que el tema en cuestión estaba inacabado, y que no se incluiría en el álbum.
Algunos creían que un clip de un tema inédito "I don't know, i just wish i was not breathing" era un fragmento de "my strange addiction" (mi extraña adicción).
Otro fragmento de la canción que se creía circulaba desde que se publicó en la historia de Instagram de Eilish, pero resultó no tener relación alguna.
Ella confirmó que el fragmento filtrado era de "My strange addiction" en un post de seguimiento, señalando la canción en una lista de temas grabada en pantalla.
Y posteriormente una vez más en otra historia de Instagram, justo una semana hasta el lanzamiento del álbum.
