Homecoming

("Two, three, four")

Redcar Lane was the backdrop of my early days
Too dark outside at Borough Park
Took me a while to find my place in Rye Hills School
Until our Simon played guitar
I loved the people there, they always backed the underdogs
And that was us down to a tea
The people ask me what it's like to see Los Angeles
I'll say, "It ain't no Redcar Beach"

Take me home, I just wanna feel ya
Take me home, give me all your love
Take me home, I belong in Teeside
It's long way back
Take me home
Take me home

So many miles and too many streets away
Too long chasin' the gold
Since I was a child, I left of my trail of enemies
All in the name of hope
I hold my craft in the lives down by the riverside
I stuck a target on my back
Growin' up 'round here, I learned no one will pity me
And I'm so thankful for that

Take me home, I just wanna feel ya
Take me home, give me all your love
Take me home, I belong in Teeside
Well, it's long way back
Take me home, I just wanna feel ya
Take me home, I said, give me all your love
Take me home, said, I belong in Teeside
And it's long way back
Take me home

Mm, take me home
Oh, take me home, take me home
Take me home
Said, this is my homecoming
This is my homecoming now
This is my homecoming
It's my homecoming

Significado de la letra

Redcar Lane holds the memories of my youth, a place where Borough Park was cloaked in darkness under the night sky. It took some time for me to find my path at Rye Hills School, until our friend Simon picked up a guitar and filled our days with music. The community there was a champion of the underdogs, embracing us wholeheartedly. When people inquire about my experiences in Los Angeles, I simply tell them it can't compare to the familiarity of Redcar Beach.

The road has taken me far, crossing countless miles and wandering through unfamiliar streets in pursuit of success. From a young age, I left behind a trail of adversaries, driven by a relentless pursuit of my dreams. Practicing my art by the riverside, I became a target for criticism and challenge. Growing up in this environment, I learned to stand strong and face challenges with resilience, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Take me home, a plea to return to the place where I long to feel the warmth of familiarity once more. To be surrounded by the love and support that I find in Teeside, a community that understands and accepts me for who I am. Despite the long distance that separates me from my roots, the yearning to return home remains steadfast.

In the midst of the journey, amidst the trials and tribulations, there is a deep longing to go back to where it all began. This desire to revisit my origins, to feel the embrace of belonging once more, is a powerful force that drives me forward. This, my friends, is my homecoming – a celebration of returning to where my heart truly belongs.
